Healing (Trauma) Informed Care (HIC) is an important best practice model for all direct care workers to understand, and self-care is an essential element to providing Healing Informed Care. The National Association of Social Workers (NASW) declared that self-care of the professional is vital for competent and ethical direct care practices. Many social workers and other direct care professionals feel the depressed and stressful effects of emerging from the pandemic on ourselves and participants. To help program participants, the helping professional must understand how we are affected by and how we can help mitigate stress, trauma, secondary trauma, burn out and compassion fatigue. It's how we manage these things that counts. Learn more >>
